Some Lessons Learned From Project Runway 9
I am missing Project Runway and it shows. I’ve been incessantly searching for ‘where are they now’ news to find out what happened to the designers (those who didn’t win, at least). The latest season was extremely enjoyable, mostly because a newbie designer won. And, when I say newbie, I mean a total beginner who learned to sew just a few months before the casting auditions.
Here are some of the lessons we all learned from Project Runway 9.
1. A Complete Beginner Can Win
Anya is a diva, a talented one! Anya may have been a fashion icon in her locale, and she IS a beauty pageant winner who’s no stranger to fashion. But, she is still a total beginner when it comes to putting clothing fragments together. Looking at her collection of v-neck resort wear, I can’t help but think the judges were nuts for letting her win. I guess they gave her props for turning things around at the last minute and still coming up with a decent collection.
2. Fashion Forward May Involve Plastic
Josh’s collection is stunning, and it’s hard to believe plastic was a major component. Well, he’s got guts. Plastic does make clothes more sturdy. But how do you wash the plastic-laden clothes? I guess you either handwash them or get them dry cleaned. His collection makes me wonder what the prom dresses 2012 would look like.
