The Basics of Living Alone as a Single Diva
While help is always around no matter what you want done around the house, it’s never too late to learn the basics of home maintenance yourself. Sure, you’re not going to be able to build a cabinet in a day, or know exactly what an acme screw is for, but if you can change a lock on your own and understand the basics of changing the faucet head, then you’re more than qualified to become a single diva living alone.
Where to start? Start with the basics. The basics are: comfort, eating and recreation.
Being comfortable means new blinds for the window to keep the sunlight out as well as the prying eyes of neighbors. You will also need a new sofa, so make sure you know how to assemble the one that you ordered online.
Your kitchen needs good plumbing, a decent refrigerator and a good stove. If you know how to install these things, you wouldn’t be scammed into paying more if you hire someone to install these contraptions for you. Changing the sink is also a good skill to have if you live alone. Applying tiles on solid cement is another skill to master.
When we say recreation, we mean the things at home that you can do to have fun. Installing programs in your computer is a no-brainer, but make sure you know how to troubleshoot. Phone lines and internet wi-fi systems are technologies you can learn how to use on your own.
Virtual Meetings for Diva Entrepreneurs
The brick and mortar business world has expanded into the internet. If you think about your business and how it could grow, the internet and all the conveniences it provides should be your main tool. The internet has your audience, and it also offers a lot of technological aspects that could help boost your business.
One example of using the internet to create better relationships with your employees, partners and clients is using teleconferencing services to broadcast your message. We’re all familiar with conferencing, but in the old days, these conferences are usually done in a boardroom.
If you want to cut down on costs like travel allowances for your workers, and stick to lower, more manageable costs, use telecommuting software like conferencing systems. The same systems that you use to promote your business to clients can be used to update your employees about the status of your projects.
Aging Gracefully: Improve Your Inner and Outer Beauty
Right now, so many things can be done to the issues that we thought had no solution. Height, which is hereditary in nature, can be augmented. Flat buttocks that have been the cause of insecurities for divas and diva transgenders alike can now be augmented and shaped. Even sparsely growing eyelashes can be augmented using eyelash growth products. There is nothing that cannot be done using technology nowadays.
Some women think that outer beauty is all that matters, but inner beauty matters just as much. How to achieve that sparkling inner beauty is more of a mystery than figuring out how to make your physical attributes perfect.
First, you need to let go of your insecurities. Of course, you know that you cannot look young forever, and there are always these young divas who will have better skin than you. You can hold on to your youth for just a while, but age will still catch up. Aging gracefully means looking beautiful because you have accepted what you have and you’ve done everything you can to preserve your youth.
I am by no means a radical evangelist of natural beauty. Going for surgery or trying every single beauty cream out there is something that only a woman can decide to do. But there has to be a limit to how far you will go to hang on to your youth. Realizing your limit and embracing your true self will make your inner beauty shine.
Some Lessons Learned From Project Runway 9
I am missing Project Runway and it shows. I’ve been incessantly searching for ‘where are they now’ news to find out what happened to the designers (those who didn’t win, at least). The latest season was extremely enjoyable, mostly because a newbie designer won. And, when I say newbie, I mean a total beginner who learned to sew just a few months before the casting auditions.
Here are some of the lessons we all learned from Project Runway 9.
1. A Complete Beginner Can Win
Anya is a diva, a talented one! Anya may have been a fashion icon in her locale, and she IS a beauty pageant winner who’s no stranger to fashion. But, she is still a total beginner when it comes to putting clothing fragments together. Looking at her collection of v-neck resort wear, I can’t help but think the judges were nuts for letting her win. I guess they gave her props for turning things around at the last minute and still coming up with a decent collection.
2. Fashion Forward May Involve Plastic
Josh’s collection is stunning, and it’s hard to believe plastic was a major component. Well, he’s got guts. Plastic does make clothes more sturdy. But how do you wash the plastic-laden clothes? I guess you either handwash them or get them dry cleaned. His collection makes me wonder what the prom dresses 2012 would look like.
Dieting Thoughts For The New Year
It’s time again for new year resolutions. Have you made yours?
Now is also the time to recap the last year and find out which resolutions you carried through until the end of the year. If you’ve recently started dieting, the New Year will bring renewed hope for a slimmer body. But what you have to understand is that dieting is a lifestyle choice, which means it will not happen overnight.
Just like it took you years before you arrived at your current body. Losing the pounds you’ve accumulated will take time. Don’t replace your plus size party dresses just yet, even if you think buying new ones (at a size smaller) can help you diet. You’ll end up frustrated and stressed, which could inevitably set you back.
So, what’s the game plan for the new year? Change your lifestyle. Maybe you can start small like saying no to a brand of chocolate. You can then follow this up by saying no to a brand of cake. Learning how to make salads and eating at least one salad item every day instead of the usual specials in the cafeteria will also help you reach your goals by mid-year next year.
