Investments and the New Rich

A few articles caught my attention over the net, and it’s about taking up a career in real estate and knowing the pitfalls, as well as the benefits of getting rich quick through selling properties and land in in demand locations. Come to think of it, what makes a location profitable and in demand? It’s usually the proximity to a crowded place, which gives the possibility of investing on a valuable commercial space. It could also be the inherent potential of a locale, its natural resources, wildlife and tourism value. But then, there are pitfalls that one has to look out for including the topics discussed in the following articles.

Young divas have been choosing role models from books and fairy tales to dress up as during parties. For unknown reasons, I and some of my playmates then could relate more to the ethereal beings than actual people. We called ourselves fairy princesses, and I think this hasn’t changed much.

When I started reading however, I met some of the most powerful goddesses in the literary world. These women didn’t live in storybooks but in comic books. One goddess in particular is named Diana.

She was a descendant of a woman whose soul was intercepted by the Goddess Gaea at death. An army of female souls soon were reincarnated as the race of the Amazons. Powerful women with illustrious powers. Diana was a former Princess of the Amazons and Goddess of Truth among her people. Her life changed somewhat when she joined the Justice League, but she is by no means less powerful than she was before.

She is more commonly known as Wonder Woman, the lasso wielding savior and my earliest paradigm of an Alpha female.

Nowadays, when I see kids wearing halloween costumes, I smile and reminisce about how meaningful my costume plays were for me. Donning costumes of celebrities and heroes makes a childhood more memorable. Kudos to the parents who let their kids live out their fantasies of heroism through cosplays.

Boys love to wear Iron Man and Batman, and those characters too have special meanings to me. My knowledge of the stories behind these comic book characters could be more extensive than some, but one thing is for sure, those of us who still remember being kids will always think of these dress up memories as we grow older.

You should have seen the way I wielded that golden lasso (rope painted with gold poster paint).

The Car Issue

I think there is a specific age when single people start craving for automobiles. I think it’s between 21 and 25, while the person is starting a career or getting promoted after a year or so in an entry level position. This is like a status symbol among young ones, a sign that one is moving up the social and financial ladder. Obtaining a loan for a car during your early twenties makes sense in that you can pay for it until you’re 30 and then be able to say that you own the car completely when you reach the age of contentment.

While I am aware of these things, I chose to commute my way through traffic in Metropolis Manila. Although admittedly jealous at how some of my friends are cruising around with their new cars and getting involved with loan for car agents, I am nonetheless content with my decision.

An automobile symbolizes additional responsibility, which I wasn’t ready for. I was 22, earning just enough to sustain my love for languages and my daily needs. Perhaps the only thing I failed to study in depth was the debt system, and how I could have made it work for me. Nowadays, the car issue is still an issue as I feel that I should do everything in my power for my child to live comfortably.

One can never learn enough in a lifetime. This is particularly true for learning addicts like me who just itch at the thought of continuing an education or taking up a complimentary course. Exploring a subject in depth, getting to speak another language perhaps, or simply expounding on a topic you are passionate about brings fulfillment that doesn’t just come. Earning another degree is priceless, not only as a career move, but as a personal development thrust as well. Why stop learning about something you feel strongly about?

I took my enrichment subject from a nearby school, and attending class again was much more worth it than spending time doing nothing, or spending cash on shopping. I was satisfying a need that I know will make me happy. I took up another language, French, and it seemed impossible to learn at first. Interest, more than intellect is a bigger factor in continuing education. No matter how much mind power you put in, if the burning passion to learn the subject isn’t there, the education will not be effective.

Now that we’ve covered some personal requirements that you may need to consider before taking up your next course, or supplementing your current knowledge about your passion, let’s discuss logistics. Going to class daily can be tedious for learning addicts who need to go to the office, do some gardening etc. Sometimes the effort to take the long commute to school is the turn off that keeps people from pursuing further education.

I look into online school programs, like those of University of Phoenix, that offer several courses of interest to professionals and new students. They do have physical locations in various states and cities, if you prefer to go to school rather than study online. Still, the option for an online, home-based course is convenient. You dictate your own study time and the only limit to what you can achieve is yourself. If you’re not one to procrastinate, the online school is for you!
